It stands at the tip of Taranto's old town on the Navigable Canal and is managed by the Italian Navy, which opens it for free guided tours. Its galleries, courtyard, towers and the chapel of San Leonardo provide a historic setting for cultural events, exhibitions and institutional ceremonies overlooking the sea.
